With the financial funding of the Heinz Nixdorf foundation the Max Planck Society (MPS) established the Heinz Nixdorf Center for Information Management (ZIM) in 2001. Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) continues with the projects of the ZIM.
An important one is the eDoc-server, which was implemented as digital archive of the MPS, another is the family of digital journals, Living Reviews.
Founded by the Max Planck Society (MPS) and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) the eSciDoc project is implemented in cooperation with the Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe (FIZ).
FIZ Karlsruhe is an experienced service partner for information management and knowledge transfer in science and industry. Its activities focus on the development of e-Science solutions and the provision of a worldwide unique collection of databases through its online service STN International. FIZ Karlsruhe is a member of the Leibniz Association (WGL), an association of non-academic scientific research and service institutions.
The Göttingen State and University Library (SUB) and the MPDL collaborate in developing virtual research environments and in ensuring access to scientific information. This collaboration was even intensified by an agreement signed in July 2011.
